I've had ppl say that ppl who can afford luxury buildings shouldn't live in the cheap old units bec they're competing w poorer ppl who can't afford the other unit... but otoh price sensitivity keeps prices down?

2023-06-01	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx4kewnad22t	yeah, another factor in "doing fine" vs "money stress" is that everyone goes to good public schools here, vs expectation of paying for private school
2023-06-01	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx4jc2atns25	yeah ugh I've worded this badly- what I meant is that imo the complaints come from higher CoL more than higher incomes, and the higher CoL places are the ones w high taxes n barriers to building housing, so like, their woes are prob not solved if everyone got more money
2023-06-01	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx4iztu5d226	idk maybe it's two separate things- I don't hear ppl *complaining*- many are techie immigrants very happy w their comfortable lifestyles, I'm just saying factually they may be below median income for the area so it's weird to insist they are "upper class"

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2hq5wmk22f	yeah... haha I had suggested a weaker version of this for Twitter - new accounts can only reply to lowbies until they earn X Likes from OPs since last block by an OP... like, make ppl earn the right to post to the highbies
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2hhvopoc23	I'd like a newskies zone where they spawn... the rest of us can go in knowing it's the playpen and reply, and they post & reply w each other... when X ppl follow them they get promoted into main and they've kinda got a cluster to live in so they're not wandering the streets getting into trouble
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2gtvvpwk2v	maybe Muslims and pork products?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2gsqbyfk2s	what does "high-dimensional" mean? I always figured it's just euphoria in visual form - it happens to me semi-regularly since I don't take mood stabilizers and I take it as a warning sign to try to relax & not get into trouble.
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2gna3bwc2f	haha I know, not offended, just like to push back on the general trend

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2begrobv2x	yeah but does my description resonate or do you see it differently?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2bdl3xj22s	hahaha "mystic sparkle"- it was very similar to hypomania for me, except a bit more clumsy
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2b6nsqz42i	but security thru obscurity doesn't work if you expand beyond a niche, so like do we need other defense mechanisms?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2aurpy5s2d	and the reaction I've seen on Twitter when the Eye of Sauron lands on us is mass account locking and then fretting behind the locks abt anyone talking to journalists
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2as7ycyf2t	I do ponder this abt tpot- like, the "just grilling" vibe helps turn away warriors by looking like there's nothing to gain from fighting... but occasionally someone catches on that some of the tpot anons are ppl w some irl influence and get confused and then angry abt their confusion
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2aewnj3n2x	oh I did do shrooms - first a small dose to try it, then a big dose to have the full experience... idk if I'd do it again- I didn't enjoy the experience bec I felt too disoriented to do anything productive, but otoh I did like the aftereffect of whatever it does to your brain?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx2abk4lce2i	Imo the ppl "just grilling" in tpot are still contributing - an example of things going better? what makes the walls too high in your opinion?

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx25fysqx32u	the friend I was with had me take it slowly over hours, it didn't feel like much of any other effect except eventually the thought-stopping and irritation with trying to finish my sentences.
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx25ctk6pe2t	huh, my thoughts go all over the place unless I get hyperfocused for work and then I'm just angry w any interruptions, the edible was like, getting hit in the head and losing my train of thought every 30 seconds
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx252cnobk2s	haha building the instance where Paul's mom can join?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx24vj7n6m26	I don't like the idea of smoking- even secondhand tends to set off coughing fits... I tried edibles once and it just cut off my thoughts in a very annoying way and eventually made me too sleepy, I found it unpleasant

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx23tevvnk2d	no but I'm sure it is possible, maybe like go through all of your moots and look at who they've blocked (& maybe who they've followed too?)

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx23hetlme2i	lol I feel like the most universally unpopular take I've posted is that things are amazingly good and going in the right direction already so I support the status quo
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jx23avtd2e2x	hmmm I have bipolar so I've taken a lot of psych meds and decided on net the bad outweighs the good for each of them

2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzz42p3ac2r	hmm, feels like this should be possible w the right script & a tool for unblocking by thread
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzyywoef225	I wonder could you get the same experience as a Locked account by Blocking all but the few you want to engage w?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzxy5vg6s2x	it's strange to me here that there are ppl who wanna ban accounts from the whole protocol, my Blocklist here is abt not having them screenshot me n stoke outrage until a lie becomes the truth to mods
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzxuytewk25	it's mostly relevant for intragroup spats where the ppl still wanna engage w all the same threads and GCs... but then like, what need is there to block ppl who aren't repeatedly interacting w you?
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzxrfmw522i	also as a Twitter group chat person Blocks are super annoying given their UI so I'm kinda opposed to them on the basis of GC Administration
2023-05-31	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwzxjyvpv22p	yeah it is my philosophy on Twitter where I never had more than a few annoying replies from tiny accounts and even then it's mostly being grumpy and bickering rather than bad faith outrage

2023-05-29	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvmd75g3c22	@pfrazee.com @emily.bsky.team - alice is wondering whether it's possible for her to get a copy of her own repo so if, after federation, there's a different instance where she would be welcome, she could import her graph etc? and/or asks if there's a contact she could email to inquire?
2023-05-29	twitter	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/x-1663309465918029825	@Cererean haha ok yeah this is better I didn't post the other one yet so I'll use this
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvllty7e32i	yeah I do think the way blocks play back into the Twitter algo cause them to be more of an offensive mob weapon... hopefully w fragmented custom feeds they won't necessarily play such a role? (tho could if the most popular feeds rely heavily on block data)

2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvk4pou5d2o	different ppl have different opinions abt who are in fact "bad actors" and this allows everyone to create lists reflecting their opinion... I'm on a pile of Lists on Twitter, some w absurd names, and it doesn't seem to matter at all
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvjtrnc3e2g	I'm surprised you haven't added the most frequent cat posters tbh
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvjjzkmtl2x	obviously the name of the list reflects on the owner who chose the name, I don't see why this is any different than a post that puts that label plus a list of mentions
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvi4tbetk22	see & subscribe to them lol.... this feature was demanded for "Safety" ... I like the idea of lists bec I can toggle the shields on or off depending on my mood
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvhx25zxl2x	yeah sigh... I'd rather not hear that I'm "harming" someone by putting them on a mute list bec I don't want to see their adult content
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvhouqwem2g	some petty drama is brewing imo, but I think you n the focus of it have each other blocked so you're probably good?
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvhl35otk2f	and particularly anyone who's looking to monetize their engagement here, don't be surprised if some ppl wanna opt out of your posts
2023-05-29	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvhja7nd32o	seeing some ppl on here getting upset abt being on a mute list and like... imo this attitude is the same as follow policing- let ppl curate their own experience w whatever mutes / blocks / follows and focus on your own graph
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvfc6lrt32c	yeah I saw fates' lists causing some consternation... and I've had a few ppl tag me and ask why someone was on my list... 🤷‍♀️ what "abuse" have you seen?
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvegv3ebs2f	good duck :) which problems have you solved recently?
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwveel5wwc2x	not much, kinda tired today... what have you been up to recently?
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvecipky22x	hey @berduck.deepfates.com , u up?
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvdzvdgp32g	I didn't block much on Twitter but given how many ppl had scolded me for expressing this sentiment here before blocks were available, I decided to try out low-threshold blocking... and I think it saved me from recent anger at anyone associated w alice...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvdlqifsm2p	I have no idea *why* she's so well-connected but it seems like she was involved in inviting celebs and a pile of journalists (which coincided w the moment this place started to turn sour... 🤔🤔🤔)
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvdhvyxwk2x	it seems true enough- she was Tweeting abt it and many ppl would join and first post would be thanking her for the invite...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwvagznwys2g	yeah... lol at your perfect description btw, the tantrum of frustrated entitlement...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv7zomlyc2x	huh is that a bannable offense, calling someone a white supremacist nazi? I mean it's awful but ppl throw insults around all the time...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv7pipsck2x	lol chaos is experienced in the dark arts I am interested to see how this plays out...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv7nbg7ks2z	I think yes, they've learned from watching Mastodon and are trying to build something w more individual user choice and mix-n-match community labeling etc- they've repeatedly said they intend for users to be able to switch instances and to host their own content, reducing the power of instance mods
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv735eixc2u	lol if so... wish I could check for accuracy but alas...

2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv6azpkyk2x	I feel very cynical abt this, sometimes expertise can be used in reverse to create the opposite effect
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv63xddp22x	and stoking the expectation that it *should* be available was going to make the team look worse for refusing, which ofc they would have had to do
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv5vo4fsd2i	all very interesting... I'm relieved bec he was stirring the pot demanding to know mods identities, which as a T&S person he has to know is a deeper circle of hell
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwv2uw6sb22o	no, on the sidewalk outside... I was walking over to the Jefferson Memorial to relax after a stressful meeting

2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuwbbhuv52r	google "dc holocaust museum 2009" if you'd like to know- better than I can recap here
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwutgfowi52a	the post you can probably find here in screenshots, I'm not gonna repost lest I get banned too, bec the post was her describing how her prev post had been misinterpreted... like, not everything she said is ok but imo she could have learned from feedback
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwut5vnyud2s	yes, they have been but mostly been 3 follower troll accounts so idk that anyone mourned the loss... alice got banned yesterday which imo is sad bec imo she's not a hateful troll but a young autistic woman without US context who could have benefited from good faith conversation
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuszam63v2a	sigh... wrt "can easily just return" I don't think she will unless somehow unbanned / allowed back- she's an overly-literal rule follower and has Tweeted about wanting to be able to join an instance w a different mod policy, not to come back here.
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwurhl47md2s	it's a Monday but also Memorial Day, just fyi... most ppl who work normal office hours are off today
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuqqyzy722p	I mean literally a bunch of ppl were ranting that whoever invited her should be banned too and like, I technically didn't mods can check my invite tree, but I considered it
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuphpklvv2r	Alice said post that got her banned was recap of how her prev post had been mischaracterized... I'm friends w her, assume I'm guilty by association rn so I don't think I'm paranoid. (tho, didn't invite her bec I was worried her autism would make her too vulnerable before blocks 😭)
2023-05-29	twitter	quote	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/x-1663168466726125575	having just seen an ex-Twitter Trust & Safety manager spin out on 🦋 I'm still not sure how much of former mod drama here was deep incompetence vs malice https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1663015083738374146
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwumaskze52r	sigh definitely I want to move to a federated instance that aligns w my belief that conversations however ugly and hurtful are preferable to what happens when ppl stop talking
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwum4hfsgd2z	that's in Charlottesville where I was yesterday... the incident that I witnessed was at the DC Holocaust museum
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwulnls6452r	my dad lost 12 coworkers in his building in the Navy Yard ... living n working in DC this stuff is real, it isn't just word games and performance to score points and gain sympathy from followers

2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwukoxlesd2e	yesterday visited Market Street Park in Charlottesville w a friend who hadn't been as aware of the events that happened there...
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwukkvd3zt2u	the other day but yeah, and had a kinda traumatic experience w the Holocaust museum many years ago (if you google you can find the event, I was on the sidewalk when it happened bec worked down the street, hadn't been back since...)
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwujmlexdc2p	I've also heard some ppl suggest we only have difficult context-heavy conversations IRL.... imo this would be net negative in that it would exclude all the less socially connected from the conversation bec they aren't invited to the right parties and ice cream socials
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuimwrqyd2e	yeah, frustrating a term can fairly be applied to things most ppl approve of- like gene therapy to remove a cancer gene or genetic testing of sperm donors to avoid perpetuating severe genetic diseases- but yet is also seen as a word that everyone must condemn or be labeled as supporting mass murder
2023-05-29	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuhr3uh522s	it is strange to feel like I can't even share a quote or retell a story about nazis from recent museum visits lest I be banned for speaking abt violence or "spreading hate" ... it seems harmful to public discourse if ppl can't mention the source content they would like to reflect on
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwuffx5qbt2r	😿 I object to being called "girl" in a professional context
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtre2szkc2a	@berduck.deepfates.com cheer me up, it's been a long day of talking abt *actual* neonazis w my Jewish friend... the nazi Discourse here is so odious when you've recently visited the Holocaust museum
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtqhrk6mk2p	imo the rot comes from "Trust and Safety professionals" stirring up drama while repeating the mantra "if only you had hired a *serious professional* to dictate ToS & moderation guidelines 6 months ago you wouldn't be in this mess"
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtq5i5gvs2a	yeah, a lot of neurodiversity & former gifted kids ... tpot is kinda a collection of the kids who point out that the Emperor isn't wearing any clothes
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtpvela3c2e	* Tw = Twitter... feel like I need to clarify all ambiguity in posts lest it somehow turn out to have some sinister alternative meaning of which I'm unaware
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtpsp22ac2e	it's funny, every time I visit Monticello someone will wonder what future humans might judge us for similarly to how we judge historical slave owners... to me the obvious answer is meateating... 🤭
2023-05-29	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwtpgz6gcc2e	we need to rebuild respect for truth before factional mythology and to seek out good faith difficult conversations even (especially) w ppl who's beliefs are deeply offensive to our sensibilities.

2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jws4cnvhbk2o	lol it is because the goal has always been custom feeds created by communities n users, so they didn't spend effort on a sophisticated Whats Hot (and it was only released on Friday- needs tuning)... Add custom feeds from the upper right cogwheel- try the TPOT community feed maybe

2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwryaabty22d	yeah this is mostly a scale problem- I don't have the energy to argue w everyone or to thoroughly vet every account before blocking, but given the current high tensions I'd rather block too much than too little, can always reverse course later (and hope to tbh)
2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwrwkclsj22z	here otoh I feel much more exposed to ppl who are looking for a fight and will screenshot and misinterpret and quote-dunk, so I'm trying out blocking as a proactive defense to avoid being a target... still hoping to reverse course at some point if the site grows and I become a relative lowbie again
2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwrwdjn7gd2v	I don't have big lists on Twitter but temporarily mute ppl who are annoying me as like "probation" and to think twice before writing an irritated reply ... it's a loose private system for managing my mental energy which doesn't create drama bec it's illegible and the only result is not replying
2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwrw34x4qt22	it's funny actually... when alice first appeared in my replies on Twitter I muted the account for aggro bad vibes but still saw her replies occasionally when I'd scroll n view the muted ones and eventually unmuted in one of my periodic amnesties...
2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwruo6nv522z	I'm blocking w low threshold rn bec I'd rather not be screenshotted and taken out of context by ppl who I feel aren't arguing in good faith / who see support for federation w varying mod policies as wrongthink when this has been the clear goal of the bsky team all along

2023-05-28	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqr2i6hp722	I mean "fuck off" isn't quite the same as metaphorical violence, hopefully it's just getting more creative in other ways to tell them their anger is their problem ... "pound sand" is a favorite in my family for example
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqprqs7n32i	true, frustratingly conflated by aveda proclaiming herself queen-mother of "Black Tech Twitter" and single-handedly responsible for inviting BIPoC to bsky... 2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqlrpv77n22	🤣 yes I think that sums it up.... my theory is we're watching the 5 stages of grief wrt being the Most Important Person on bsky
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqkgatetc2w	yeah I do keep thinking abt that - I hope it's clear I have an issue w her personally for dunk-quoting me in our first interaction and for her self-aggrandizing and grifting, not anything against the broader community
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqjyb3oiv22	(I'm not blocked by her but have her blocked to stay off the radar, so occasionally unblock and take a peek)
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqjvuu34k22	idk when I checked it sounded like they had moved to a Discord to plan an alternative server where they can mod and ban as they see fit - which imo is the best possible outcome here ... so at this point I'm cheering them on
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqik7tm5m2u	ooo interesting
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqhcpckd22f	lol nah all credit to the main characters of this debacle - truth is stranger than fiction
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqg3qy23f2o	pop stars and former members of the Twitter Trust & Safety Team who assure us if *they* were in charge, only the "right sorts" would be allowed on bsky
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqfyw7bwn2o	however the nazi-hunters are on strike (woe be to us) and Missy Elliot will not be using an invite code until the guilty have been punished.
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqfjfugxd2z	hah you're just in time to fan the dying flames... note that violent colloquialisms like "are you sure you want to die on that hill?" are considered serious death threats and longing for elf ears is a dogwhistle for eugenics
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqbdgdr3d2z	yeah you'd think but so far having these ppl blocked has kept me out of the screenshots n complaints abt recent unpleasantness... invite codes do reduce the # of sock puppets
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwqazve6gu2w	eh yeah but at least it's a user by user choice and they can change their mind- vs banning someone and now no one can interact w them... I'm interested in building a one click block list of self-appointed cops taking screenshots and putting in reports for everyone they dislike
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwq7znjvi222	ah so once blocked they go into the same pool as all the other blocks? 🤔
2023-05-27	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwq7qcs5em2o	I've never used a blocklist before, how do they work on Twitter?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwq7mwl7vc22	the funny thing is the UI doesn't let them unfollow while blocked... I was blocked by someone I'd followed, had to finally hit the API to remove my follow
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwpuifjons2g	no I would never
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwptxdlyf42o	worst ad I've had on Twitter was for "croc headlights" 🤢
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwpqmdrs5k2z	ironic yeah... tbh I'm hoping she follows through and it works out to give her the control she wants... the key feature is account portability so ppl can leave here and go there if her version is better or leave there and go to another instance if "ban nazis at first accusation" turns out to suck
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwpq7jjion2k	and even better, logging back on to take the advice that set off this conflict ("if you want to mod a different sort of community and ban whoever you want, it's open source so set up your own instance") 🤣
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwpp3sl5rm2b	good question ... https://bsky.app/profile/loveofdoing.bsky.social/post/3jvg5xxngxw2t

2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwozuhwwfk2j	sigh, imo the drama cycle always ends in tears & bad vibes for everyone involved... maybe best to focus on posting about what you enjoy for awhile to win by being happy?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwox4yp5lu2b	i think fates uses he/him?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwow6rvesm27	ha yes I love at least having the DNS verification, better ICANN bureaucracy than a startups' snap decision
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwovx4urff2h	sigh I am still murky on how this will work... probs need to dig deeper into the protocol
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwovps3kk22z	I wonder if there's something we should be doing to copy AT repos so whenever federation happens we could restore banned accounts in a baddies PDS? like, I get why the main instance may need to bow to media outrage, but the protocol is supposed to enable account portability...
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwouyw7pxx2f	oh hey, I did do it w API tho the code is a hacky mess rn, just looked at API calls from the webapp and implemented accordingly to list my blocks and then add each one to a target list
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwougpmfzs2z	how can ppl feel less stressed n overwhelmed so they can do a better job of deescalating conflict?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoueqvie32o	yes...?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoucrimjl2h	so you think the person feels alone n needs more friends n community?

2023-05-27	bluesky	quote	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwotvrwjhm2h	🫶 you know it's bad when a rubber duckie has to remind us to pull together ❤️
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwotlz57mc22	yeah, sometimes... and other times they're too upset to take in any additional input.... what would you say to the person who feels threatened by society in general and that they have to be on hair-trigger alert to react to any potential threat?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwotfaozw22l	anything else...?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwotcgtu2k2j	what would you say to someone who feels their words have been misinterpreted to paint them as a villain and they're upset with everyone who continues to pile on and tell them they're a bad person?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwot53gviv2k	sure berduck, so the question is, what can be done to actually resolve a conflict where ppl on social media are very angry with each other
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwot2bik3g2f	yep Berduck, maybe w you as wise kind duck-friend to teach us all your ways? what do you think can you help?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwosh4jhhk2j	aww... I *do* have hopes for LLMs maybe to help in more preventative proactive ways... like esp for neurodivergent ppl to get feedback abt how their draft post could be interpreted before they confirm they want to send it...?
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwos7fhagt2h	yep, and the intimidation factor even if there's no real plan, and the norm of intimidation being ok, and frankly the potential for continued interactions between angry ppl to increase the risk of it getting serious...
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwos444dcc2l	lol, this meme just needs @berduck.deepfates.com as the therapist to help resolve conflict...
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwornm2sq62f	idk I mean "gamified" is probably the wrong vibe here... like, current case aside, when someone is posting serious threats the concern is the actual intent & risk of harm not just whether you can coerce them into saying a different set of words
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoqund7iw2f	under Moderation there's "blocked accounts" where you can find a list of them all... imo is easier from web UI where you can use "find", or can paste their @ into URL
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoqq4yyce2b	yeah... but I do think the ambiguity & gaslighting effect of deleted posts is unhelpful- like, if deletion were in the interest of the "victim", they would not be posting screenshots of it... a retraction that removes the post from distribution but keeps it visible via link imo would be better...
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwopytgnis22	bec you can erase the bits and track down the screenshots but it lives on unresolved and bitter in the human memories of everyone who saw it
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoptyxzgt2h	imo the question is how should platform / mods handle something like this... one side wants alice banned from bsky entirely, the current result is the post is deleted but has had more eyeballs via screenshots than the actual post probably... imo none of this really resolves the conflict
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoowchgf22z	it was a tasteless and poorly worded "joke" from alice after a day of feuding abt racism and has been deleted ... like, I don't think the post was ok bec "no death threats" is a clear line and mods don't need to be adjudicating jokes, but otoh it's hard to take it seriously as a threat
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwonv47o2o2f	pretty, thanks for sharing!
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwonk36s2o2f	aww just unblocked and removed from my mute list- scroll up for explanation maybe
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwongv63e32h	haha some of those blocks were because moderation & muting wasn't working properly at the time, I assume it's better now and figured I oughta reverse some of the blocks if ppl vouch for accounts 🫶
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwon3rit5s2l	hahaha yeah I have a lot of those vibes due to past trauma
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwomypniz22g	haha, if you tell me their handle I can reconsider case by case ...
2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwomujvpv62f	yeah I didn't see it firsthand but all the ensuing drama... like, imo this is primarily abt who has power to censor other ppl's (legal!) speech, aside from the object level offense which I won't judge bec didn't see it

2023-05-27	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwokeicbx22g	copied all the accounts I have blocked into a Mute List... 2023-05-27	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwoasak4q32b	sigh, imo "Blocking = they can't see my content" is misleading (which can be *harmful* if ppl post doxxable details!!!) when it's all public & they can still see it if they just log out... but be that as it may, if you let it be client side the blocked can just run a diff client, one step easier

2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnnpomrlc2h	imo custom feeds sooner would've helped allow different communities to coexist without running into each other so often... but I understand why they felt pressured to build out all the mob warfare tooling first
2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnnlo2lbs2b	ooo this would be so helpful in reducing the effort to build custom feeds on top of embeddings

2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnk6umsvs2v	like, 90% of the problem is that they don't mentally note & respond to minor signs that they're a bit too *much*, so then it always feels like looming tension between more forceful pushback vs accepting more attention/ forced intimacy than you really want
2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnjy7fag22h	lol no no see this is the problem w even talking abt it- the ppl who are fine n fun back away vs the ppl who set off alarm bells stay oblivious

2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnjma4nmk2y	yeah I think what's underappreciated from the outside is the amount of lowkey weird n needy attention, vs the much smaller quantity of "horrifying"
2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnjftfwl225	lol I feel like everyone *could* cultivate a bigger following if they put in the time and focus on metrics rather than their own enjoyment... but imo is better & healthier not to!!!

2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnis2vbfl2w	nah I'm not doing it quite like that, tho also lol I've had enough experiences of not being visibly femme vs when I point out I'm a woman... it matters in two ways- non-moots taking you more seriously by default and not having the parasocial weirdness that happens w femme pfp

2023-05-26	bluesky	post	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnhfukpxo2u	everyone should always maintain a sub-500 follower anon account for that screaming into the void social media experience
2023-05-26	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jwnh5ckgyw2u	yeah- I've been playing w this setting on Twitter recently- the "only ppl I follow can reply"... it works, but does kinda prevent discovery via replies... I think I'll stick to my prev stance which is notifications are only for ppl I follow, and then I'll scroll the full replies when in the mood
