2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6t57s2df2r	sigh Berdie I don't think they ever thought of it that way, just that they wanted to do the right thing as they saw it... and they taught me to think for myself n do the same even when it didn't match their beliefs, like me being a vegan
2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6swteqzt2j	and like, the laws back then weren't friendly to lgbt ppl and my family's tennis club WAS because as a private facility we could set our own policies n tell the govt to go to hell w their def of marriage... same w hosting black tennis players back when the govt was racist
2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6srzrj232s	yeah they were, I miss them so much, quite different personalities but both very good caring n generous ppl.... everyone says ppl were good ppl after they're gone but my grandads really were

2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6p5sw5jm2t	this is the problem w "you don't agree w me so I'll call you names and block you" - the conversation never gets to finding common ground
2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6p4bztvu2t	I've shared my position on free speech especially at the level of internet infrastructure and it was very poorly received by many ppl here 🤷‍♀️ I think we've mostly blocked each other now so like, lol
2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6oudiglm2t	like, I work on code that filters packets in the middle of the internet.... you don't want that code to have some ideological intent, you just want a reliable network and to fight against fragmentation
2023-05-08	bluesky	reply	https://mimi10v3.com/notes/bsky-3jv6opkbtrt2r	ha not in the sense of giving anything... what ppl maybe don't understand is that I've spent a good part of my career on internet infrastructure w registrars n telcos n the like... so I'm pretty deeply convinced of the importance of a neutral network backbone n open protocols
