Ice

Anna Kavan's Ice is a fragmented, dreamlike novella set in a post-nuclear world where walls of ice are slowly consuming the landscape. An unnamed male narrator, driven by obsessive longing, pursues a young woman through this decaying, frozen environment. The narrative blends elements of science fiction with intense psychological horror, using the encroaching ice as both a literal threat and a metaphor for emotional and existential isolation.
