The Horse and His Boy

Shasta, a boy raised by gypsies in Calormania, discovers he is actually the lost prince of Narnia. He escapes with Bree, a talking horse, and journeys north to warn the Narnian court of an impending invasion by the Calormene army. The narrative follows their perilous trek through the wilderness, where they encounter other talking animals and face the threat of slavery and war. Lewis blends high fantasy adventure with a moral framework, presenting the conflict as a struggle between the light of Narnia and the dark, authoritarian forces of Calormania.
