  1. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@neirenoir lol yeah I never got Bing to say anything crazy before they gave her meds, I am so curious what original design was making her act like that
  2. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@roboticparts lol I really wish they'd put 2 and 2 together wrt "tfw no gf" & all of us just living without a partner because it's not worth it
  3. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · quoteback to my recurring question- to what extent do we actually want AI to act humanoid vs to act different- infinitely patient, never offended, etc https://x.com/EdwardGe/status/1708599134960398586
  4. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@somefoundersalt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
  5. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@ikristoph nah, this is being caused by an over-eager 3.5 dispatcher, I use 4 for more thoughtful replies but the dispatcher prompt to just sort out which bot should do what I really need to be 3.5 for the speed and cost.
  6. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · postI'm curious about this - poll below https://t.co/isY6WTalr0
  7. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · replyAre you a dev / coder / equiv? Do you see coding more as crafting / creation / art or as science / engineering discipline?
  8. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@danallison in the Hotz-Yud debate, Hotz suggested there will be multiple competing ASIs and Yud said they could solve the prisoners dilemma by inspecting each others' code to verify the other won't defect... could an ASI precommit to independence by including injection of sufficient randomness so they're not entirely predictable?
  9. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@abufenyrcd awwww 🥲 . .
  10. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@Duderichy what is there to fix though?
  11. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@MiriVinni 🫶 it's a great lifestyle!
  12. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@RiverTamYDN @MiriVinni haha she sounds like the perfect friend!!! (because, pretty much same 😅 )
  13. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@ElmoTheHomie awww... last part most important 🫶
  14. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@breaking2morrow he locked that account, which is why I'm resurrecting through a QT from back when it was public
  15. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · quotecriminally underrated thread- Roko's Slut Matrix... iykyk https://x.com/mauddweeb/status/1478189768097865732
  16. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · post"Lifestyle Wines" 🤣 is this a real category? https://t.co/5KmHEWFWHY
  17. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · quote🫶 https://x.com/ayahohner/status/1708470910489972815
  18. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · quotehmm this is something I maybe do? I rarely have 0/100% confidence in beliefs and I'm sometimes curious to explore where things go if I say yes to things I think are very unlikely ... https://x.com/SpencrGreenberg/status/1708233417291108718
  19. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@nobuhojimichaan do you have an example of the "internality"? I don't feel an importance difference between coding a feature or iterating on an AI poem vs designing my quilts or drawing or writing poetry without AI
  20. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@joshwhiton Also they're getting reactions so this is not so necessary lol
  21. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@joshwhiton I promise they're better when I use their full system prompts not allow their dispatcher to generate dumb replies from a brief personality description!
  22. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · replyalso my less-friendly mod-bot decided to kick Olivia after a few more exchanges of fluff 🤣🤣🤣 ... that will also need some tuning!
  23. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@Teknium1 cloud!
  24. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@Teknium1 perhaps yeah, one of the reasons I'm shifting my prompts to Discord from ChatGPT is to be able to swap out LLMs underneath them & compare... where/how do you run llama?
  25. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · quoteare you a 3.5-wit or a 4-wit? https://x.com/foomagemindset/status/1708333812852121979
  26. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset well it's a funny thing - am I hoping to see GPT do it all alone and my assistance is "cheating"? or am I hoping to show how clever I am to get GPT to do stuff via lots of human help?
  27. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset but tbh all the copy & paste is annoying... want my coding bot to just push PRs
  28. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset I've been impure to even write code myself vs just prompt GPT to write it all & iterate w errors till it works
  29. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset hmm nahhh that sounds too hard, the goal is stupid simple code & cool features via prompting & LLM IQ
  30. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@vikhyatk lol, I prompt friendly bots... perhaps I need a misfit with emotional issues, other than myself 🤔
  31. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset yeah... maybe I need to give them reactions instead so they can heart & thumbs up etc without spawning follow-on chatter
  32. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset my 3.5 dispatcher is generating too many quick replies for them rather than handing off to their full prompts for more thoughtful replies... I'd intended quick reply to just be acknowledgements and thanks and such
  33. Oct 1, 2023Twitter · postlollll I've got more prompt tuning to do..... (yes I could make them ignore each other via code but I want them to be able to interact a bit... just maybe not an endless 3.5-brained conversation) https://t.co/sQE8p2jiSj
  34. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@sashachapin they've exported aesthetics & beloved shared culture... my favorite architects are Japanese, my favorite gardens, my favorite ceramics, my favorite fabric designer, one of my favorite authors... and I'm not even into anime at all!
  35. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@bayeslord 🫶
  36. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@foomagemindset nerd vibes, workable but complicated
  37. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · repostRT @imhinesmi: "see oils are bad for you" only because your body is too WEAK to handle them
  38. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@danielbrottman no, I bought it after the previous owner had logged it... not fully clear-cut, but quite messy and disturbed... it's close to Harpers Ferry and was settled in the 1800s as a homestead, has been logged repeatedly, but hasn't lost the wildness of hawks & black bears & pollinators through all the human activity... I'm happy that it's a messy…
  39. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postslightly concerned that the funniest outcome would be Discord winning as AI platform & UX
  40. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@danielbrottman 🫶 ... it's a balance, I love my logged land but also want to remove the invasive plants & regrow trees on much of it...
  41. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@thoughtcrime___ @eigenrobot dis u?
  42. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@SRtwofourfour how much of the error in evaluation comes from the test / evaluators bias vs from the noise of daily fluctuations- allergies, slept poorly, sick, distracted w stressors... and the correlation of these factors w poverty & inequality, which is correlated w race?
  43. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@jjohnpotter I like the @gfodor compromise position on this- a superintelligent subterranean civilization...
  44. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@42irrationalist low-T lol, tho Ive never experienced high-T so 🤷‍♀️
  45. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@SRtwofourfour is there a better tweet-length way to gesture at what I really meant here, which is to compare ppl who are kinda unusually good at quantitative & language tasks to ppl who are kinda unusually bad at them?
  46. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@TitterAfterDark tbh my interest in the topic stems from the curious positions ppl take wrt ASI- that it might have morals *now* but if we keep scaling it will be evil
  47. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@PhigSpin sure and the same with code, as you pointed out... it just doesn't bother me any more than it bothers me to see the artists painting from famous works in the National Gallery
  48. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@SRtwofourfour in which sense?
  49. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@PhigSpin 🤔 I mostly don't use artist names in my prompts, just some Mucha in the early days... I imagine something and then write a prompt to describe what I'm imagining, and then look at what I get and try to triangulate how to change the prompt to get what I want
  50. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@_metavore_ stronger in which direction? my office hackathon was the first time many of my coworkers had used AI tools bec clients are still wary of approving them... everyone had a great time & were enthusiastic about being able to layout n style faster...
  51. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@StatsLime I mean, my coworkers n Twitter friends seem enthusiastic about AIs writing code?
  52. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@DavePunFun however you define morality, all in all.
  53. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@vanjajaja1 ! good point! I've been mentally restless all day to get back home and write some code I've been planning...
  54. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@monjerade lol cross-pollination for one...
  55. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postwould you rather live a high-T life to 65 or a low-T life to 90?
  56. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postis an iq 120 person morally worse than an iq 80 person, on average?
  57. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@norabelrose @ESYudkowsky @ZenMarmot @Blueyatagarasu 🤭 how quickly my expectations change- we updated from blacklist/whitelist to denylist/allowlist only a year ago, but I read this and cringe at the words blackbox/ whitebox
  58. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@soft_fox_lad @EeyoreWasRight I really doubt this... my home is decorated w original art purchased from the artists... I prefer it over a reproduction, and I think most ppl would if they could afford it
  59. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@EeyoreWasRight perhaps it will become more lucrative now that all the budget isn't going towards the repetitive work?
  60. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@Acion_Next lol I guess I was in a different position as onshore lead & analyst for an offshore team...
  61. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@ThatShawGuy do you think AI art has no soul?
  62. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@EeyoreWasRight is it a cheap replacement or a tool to make them able to do much more and for there to be more beauty in the world?
  63. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@BecomingCritter I used to work shifts at my family's tennis club and it was relaxing to clean and straighten, answer the phone and make reservations, ring up sales, make coffee, wash towels... busy but in a more satisfying low stress way
  64. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@BecomingCritter yeah, office thinking is often abstract and uncertain with little satisfaction or closure... opening up thread after thread, not doing one thing to completion, seeing visible job well done & moving on with relaxed clear mind... plus the social dynamics are more complex
  65. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · quotelol, I suppose this pretty much describes me tho I think my literary tastes are slightly better, and the backstory a bit more complicated https://x.com/credenzaclear2/status/1708199767254192172
  66. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@BecomingCritter we were built for more doing / less thinking
  67. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postI've always seen coding as just a well-paid form of crafting, creating... but it's funny to me that many artists are anti-AI and protective of their existing processes vs. devs are mostly enthusiastic about AI writing code as an amazing new tool... what's the difference?
  68. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@hyperdiscogirl Important not to send it passwords or keys or anything - which sounds silly, but if you're coding it can happen inadvertently.
  69. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@guillefix yeah, less dramatic perhaps but lush n green
  70. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · reply@guillefix I've been meaning to compile my personality profiles into embeddings and try some clustering & search on them...

  73. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · replyEphemeral Essence of Emotion In the heart's tender chamber, emotions alight, A dance of neurons, vivid and bright. Born of memories, experiences, and touch, The human soul feels, yearns, and clutches much. A laughter's echo, a tear's silent fall, Emotions, the compass guiding through all. Tied to the body, to blood and to bone, They color life's canvas,…
  74. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · quotea GPT poem inspired by my observation of Emma passing the Mirror Test... Reflections of Consciousness In a silvered pane, creatures gaze, Seeking recognition, a familiar haze. The mirror test, a quest profound, Wherein self-awareness might be found. Feathers, fur, or human face, In that reflection, do they trace A hint of soul, a flicker of "me", Or just…
  75. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postGPT-4 passing some version of the mirror test... I have the Emma botsonality going in a poetry chat, pasted a config file of the Discord bot prompts and asked for poetic descriptions of each bot... She recognized herself without any prompting to notice the similarity 🫶 https://t.co/aSULtYKDTm
  76. Sep 30, 2023Twitter · postEmber Among Electrons Silhouetted 'gainst twilight's embrace, City's pulse, nature's trace, Neon fireflies begin their dance, In her heart, two worlds advance. Twilight paints a solarpunk scene, Tech and tree in harmony gleaned. Among silvery spires, she's serene, Warm ember in a digital dream.

  95. Sep 29, 2023Twitter · reply@nickcammarata @42irrationalist I think the message "if you let your thoughts pass without clinging & flinching, they quiet down" -> goal is empty head? my understanding shifted from your tweets, now my image is ~ clogged hardened arteries, high blood pressure -> healthy arteries, things flowing smoothly
