  18. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · repostRT @Pinboard: This is like pantsing someone in space and then thinking they won't come after you. NASA please rethink this

  28. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@arctanno App UX optimized for the male gaze 😏
  29. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@KarenVaccinated @ezraklein @maggieNYT I'm angry that teachers pushed to be at the front of the line for vaccines- before my grandparents- and then decided to keep schools closed even after they were vaccinated.
  30. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@lastcontrarian Hm, money is a signal to direct scarce competence to the most valuable work... So I'd argue it's important to allocate more money where we most need progress.
  31. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@PradyuPrasad Is "despoiling" a more pc term?
  32. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@kyzcralotSxaM Does it count if you knowingly let other people cheat off your answers / take credit for your work? Trading trivia for social currency seemed like a good deal at the time... 🤷‍♀️
  33. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@WholeMarsBlog Do you think there are ways to get to FSD that don't involve a massive beta / data collection effort? Or should we be counting the driver-days of beta as Tesla competitive moat?
  34. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@Pinboard (a 3D printer)

  37. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@Heghoulian @NicoDelon @RichardDawkins Also would be interesting how he squares the circle of religious life satisfaction vs truth-seeking... Feel like there's a non-zero probability I go down in history as the first believer in a new religion he creates.
  38. Nov 23, 2021Twitter · reply@Heghoulian @NicoDelon @RichardDawkins all the way- I trust he'd go by the research on life satisfaction and longevity... Probably the only way to break my sugar addiction.

  48. Nov 22, 2021Twitter · reply@tacchinotacchi @robinhanson I doubt it will be 100 yrs; my employer uses a quantitative reasoning test as our first filter and several of our best devs didn't go to college / have unrelated degrees.

  51. Nov 22, 2021Twitter · reply@ESYudkowsky Math Pets 😘
  52. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@RokoMijic Within the military and particularly for the navy, vaccines keep troops at full strength despite very close quarters. An outbreak of meningococcus on a carrier with unvaxxed sailors would be a nightmare / death sentence for many aboard.
  53. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@RokoMijic Polio vaxx- we're very close to worldwide eradication... If a vax mandate is needed to end the last few cases, it would be worth it because then we could retire the vaccine and spare future humanity the side effects and expense.
  54. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@RokoMijic Measles vaxx- measles is highly contagious, keeping vaxx rates high enough creates herd immunity which protects infants when they're not old enough for the vaccine.
  55. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@as_per_ushe @perfectsweeties 😂 thank you all for indulging me over the years.
  56. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · postHow is it that a street little changed from George Washington's day is a better pedestrian experience than anything developed in the past 50 yrs? ♥️ old town Alexandria https://t.co/Cxxngoe1Es

  59. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@robinhanson Universities stop picking the best -> employers stop caring about degrees -> promising students go directly into the workforce.... I think this could be a good thing!

  66. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · repostRT @caraesten: all we needed for a car-free future was looting a luxury store. thank you, looters, for your service to Urbanism.
  67. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@AlexGodofsky Ah... I was thinking drones armed with fentanyl darts, but yeah 🙂. Still think ppl are shit at stats- even if cops can 10x drunk driving arrests, does moving risk of arrest from 0.5% to 5% really change the drunk dude's mental calculation?
  68. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@AlexGodofsky If the punishment for every crime is instant death / permanent removal from society then yeah I suppose recidivism won't be an issue. But for something like public urination, drunk / high / psychotic people aren't going to stop and consider that a month in jail isn't worth it?
  69. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@AlexGodofsky For rational crimes yes; I've said the same thing about the local carjacking spike... Not sure incentives matter very much when it comes to mental illness though.
  70. Nov 21, 2021Twitter · reply@vgr Feel like old school network infrastructure & established b2b software are the Ents- moving slowly, bickering over RFCs, getting chopped up for firewood by the Orcs.
  71. Nov 20, 2021Twitter · reply@gptbrooke Yep- this is a big factor in me wanting FSD to mature as quickly as possible
  72. Nov 20, 2021Twitter · reply@garyblack00 Obviously FSD should keep pushing as fast as it can go, that's the breakthrough that changes everything else. With FSD approval you do robotaxis- which are Y and/or "25K" smaller city car? Also keep working the battery problem to unlock semi and megapacks.
