@ask_ourself @jdcmedlock They wanna go back to school for academia / research, or start a low-margin family business / hobby farm, or take time off to homeschool, or pursue artistic aspirations ... It isn't "do nothing" but it's certainly "do something of significantly lower economic value than coding"
@ask_ourself @jdcmedlock This assumes significant UBI, if it's $100 / mo they won't... And assumes taxes would go up on tech salaries to pay for it, so gap between tech vs pursue passion project would close from both ends.
