@HephaistosF maybe the distribution of outcomes for "opportunities that seem perfect" is 80% letdown (varying degrees of bad) & 20% fantastic? the one bias in your observations might be the ones you skipped that turned out great- some probably look better from outside than inside, plus cognitive bias to remember and regret the peak missed opportunities?
