so alcoholism discussion + personal context has me wondering.... when I used to do 100% travel for work it was expected to go out drinking w the guys... as sole woman I couldn't keep up & felt it was inadvisable to try, so I drank a lot of Shirley Temples etc and learned to slide into "mildly inebriated" mental state of silliness & relaxation while drinking mocktails- but snap out of it if a guy got too handsy or it was time to drive everyone back to the hotel... tbh it's an enjoyable mental state, and when I go out I have a significant desire for "a drink" that's not water or caffeine, but no strong preference for whether the drink contains alcohol, so recently I've been choosing a mocktail or virgin frozen drink more often... does the desire for the "mildly drunk" mental state of giddy relaxation constitute a form of addiction or alcoholism?
