I get annoyed when ppl say Beff created e/acc as a grift bec as someone who's been involved from early days I've seen him time and again turn away from top-down control or profit from e/acc, prioritizing the message of optimism & resilience of the movement over personal gain. https://x.com/beffjezos/status/1800305920754487435
He's encouraged others to write their own Manifestos, make their own forks if they want to go in a different direction, keeping the edges soft and open to corrective critique, not insisting others agree w him on all points- prioritizing variance over groupthink. He doesn't control or profit from any of the multiple e/acc websites or merch shops, doesn't have a formal org with membership, encourages ppl to seek status via building companies not climbing an e/acc hierarchy. And he was anonymous until doxxed by a journalist, kept Extropic separate and encouraged arguing on the merits of ideas not credentials. Argue w his ideas, criticize his decisions, start a company to out-build Extropic- i bet he would relish the competition- but do better than the baseless name calling pls 🫶
