idk what that dissertation concluded about scent & social dynamics but imo scent is underrated element of human experience & moral instincts (scent is important for disgust, kinship...) and scent palettes DO vary between cultures so like i would be interested to read it
if you haven't had a conversation about immigrants or ethnic groups that eventually came around to "but they SMELL funny", imo you're not asking the right questions
