i wish we could take a more descriptivist ethnographic approach to neurotribes- whenever i post about autism i get a bunch of "it's a spectrum" and pointing to the dsm v criteria rather than discussion of how adult autistic lives differ from normie lives, in practice
like, there IS a wide distribution of symptoms but could we get more curious how the distribution of traits might cluster into subtypes with greater predictive power? and fwiw i reject the "levels of support" frame for this because that's about politics and funding, decidedly…
