note that this is not a centrist over leftist vote but a principle over partisanship vote- my existing Arlington++ district has a strong left lean which makes it a better bet for progressives to win the Dem primary and coast to victory in the general, vs the new map would water down regional differences into smaller margin Dem wins in each bizarrely shaped district, biasing them all towards inoffensive moderates
