had a conversation last night about how i seem to be missing a large chunk of american cultural training data which leads me to generalize wrongly when confronted with new concepts like "drone kink" or "eugenics kink" or "Master-slave" - i go to knowledge i learned from science or history books as my nearest references, but apparently there's a whole corpus of video and internet content which developed and transformed these concepts into something quite different? it frustrates me there's a whole canon i'm missing which makes me look ignorant and stupid, but which also seems mostly not to my taste and would pollute my existing knowledge of concepts with slop popularizations? do i go study it and if so how, when apparently everyone else just picked it up as a child without effort? also does this prove i'm autistic?
