ppl underestimate the govt because their two touchpoints are 80 iq customer service workers and politicians who are highly incentivized to play dumb & helpless.
i think we would all be better off if SF techies updated their priors to assume that politicians are not gullible and government agencies are not completely incompetent / ignorant of the field they regulate
