i have so many good childhood memories of extended family and neighborhood events hosted at people's larger homes and outdoor spaces, these were way cheaper and more relaxed than if you had to use public space to host; but if we're giving up on social fabric with other humans then i agree we should live in smaller townhomes and apartments
