yeah the world got flatter in a way, it feels like... infinite optionality of new people out there but a lack of depth in any particular relationship or small group because we're all more willing to opt out and move on instead of repairing things. also lacking intermediaries and mentors who might help move a relationship towards repair that doesn't just mean the person who got hurt shrugging and forgetting it happened
