In a near-future America dominated by the megacorporation Stellaxis, Mallory is an orphan of the corporate war, surviving in a cramped hotel room while streaming a popular virtual reality war game. Her life changes when she discovers that the celebrated SpecOps supersoldiers she admires in the game were not created by the corporation, but were actually children stolen and augmented after losing everything in the conflict. This revelation exposes a horrifying lie at the heart of the society she inhabits.

The narrative follows Mal as she navigates the dangerous consequences of this knowledge, where defying the corporation threatens her water ration, livelihood, and life. The novel blends fast-paced cyberpunk action with a critique of corporate power, exploring themes of identity, exploitation, and resistance in a world where connectivity and basic resources are controlled by a single entity.
