The Mongrel Mage

The nineteenth volume of L. E. Modesitt Jr.'s Saga of Recluce introduces a new narrative arc centered on Beltur, a mage possessing the rare and dangerous ability to wield both the white magic of Chaos and the black magic of Order. Fleeing a powerful antagonist, Beltur is taken in by a community of Order mages who help him cultivate his unique talents. As he seeks to establish a home and master his dual nature, the threat of invasion forces him to test the limits of his power to protect his new allies.
