Unsong

In an alternate 2017, a catastrophic event known as the Metaphysical Plague has rendered the universe's underlying metaphysical structure visible and tangible. In this reality, the divine Names of God function as a literal programming language, allowing those who master them to alter reality. The narrative follows Aaron Smith-Teller, a disgruntled kabbalistic coder employed by a magical startup in a dystopian America fractured by religious and corporate factions. As he navigates this world, the story explores the intersection of ancient Jewish esotericism and modern technological infrastructure, treating theological concepts as functional code.
