  8. Dec 8, 2021Twitter · reply@DistractedAnna @ShouldnSir @abettertake 🤣 just take it as a reminder to say yes to the outliers rather than the median beta bro

  14. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · repostRT @QuinnyPig: A multi-day full outage of us-east-1 will have an observable effect on the world economy. That is not an exaggeration.
  15. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@telmudic @varunramg @tszzl I can appreciate the "Likes too cheap to meter" approach
  16. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@http410gone 😿 farewell
  17. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@varunramg @tszzl @telmudic Lol, someone needs to do a Threadapalooza resurrecting old Tweets the author would prefer to forget
  18. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@ShouldnSir @abettertake I do not wish to applaud his ingenuity as he pries open a bottle of wine with a steak knife, I do not wish to admire the "minimalism" of cheap black furnishings, I do not wish to sit on the biohazard greige couch facing the enormous TV
  19. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@ShouldnSir @abettertake I do not wish to endure a waxing only to be rubbed raw by his stubble because his skin is "too sensitive" for a clean shave

  24. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@jwgur Lol seriously though we had a windstorm last night, when I heard our AWS region was down this morning I first wondered if the wind had somehow contributed to the outage
  25. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@kellogh @lkngrrr @markemer @RepKatiePorter Us-east-1 is old with heterogeneous hardware & infrastructure in the DCs and is where AWS hosts all the special pets because AWS HQ is here too... But it's also the densest fiber location so 🤷‍♀️
  26. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@mattparlmer 🤣 I mean, it is probably a good thing that non-essentials are just thrown into the cheapest most central datacenters... Idle capacity is expensive, when we lose a big chunk of cloud maybe it's ok that only important things are redundant elsewhere?
  27. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@ESYudkowsky @robinhanson At this point what neighborhood doesn't have at least 10 little free libraries within walking distance anyway?
  28. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@robinhanson Pre-internet the librarian and card catalog were part of the process of figuring out which book(s) to access, so many books in the same location with quiet study space was a feature not a bug? Also, if you go by price & # of reads, dumb fiction subsidizes expensive nonfiction

  52. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@MegaBasedChad Was thinking it might be useful combined with photo watermarks and key exchange to provide proof that a photo was actually taken at a certain time & place, like for crime photos?
  53. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@MegaBasedChad I spent some time trying to find a quasi-legit web3 application for upcoming company hackathon, and since we work for logistics clients... But yeah this was the best I came up with
  54. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@MegaBasedChad ELD = electronic logging device- they're used by truckers to prove where they are for tracking https://www.bestelddevices.com/best-eld-guide/
  55. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@MegaBasedChad Is it? GPS can be spoofed so existing ELDs have anti-tamper detection which still isn't perfect and logistics companies end up in stupid disputes that could be avoided with better proof of location. Concept isn't there yet, but at least it makes some sense?
  56. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@liminal_warmth But the main point is the deep dysfunction of medical billing industry... If people were charged a reasonable price for the cost of their care, or could buy a no-vax add-on policy to cover the extra risk...
  57. Dec 7, 2021Twitter · reply@InfoSecSherpa @AP It's mocking the idea that there are images of hope backlit by destructive fires

  81. Dec 6, 2021Twitter · reply@RationalEtienne @elonmusk @newsmax Perhaps a mental acuity test instead of a numerical age? Person, woman, man, camera, TV 😁
