consistency is overrated we're all continually building & revising our world model, a lossy abstraction on the complexities of the world, finding rules that work for predicting our day to day lives in different domains we find different rules fit best- and sometimes they're inconsistent, they often have exceptions and edge cases and discontinuities this should not be surprising - our experience is only a tiny sampling of the world... insisting on a fully consistent model when we have incomplete data and simplistic abstractions is foolish & reduces accuracy of our locally best fit approximation
