Shadows of Self

In this installment of the Mistborn series, the industrial city of Luthadel on the planet Scadrial has evolved into a bustling, optimistic society where magic and technology intertwine. As the economy grows and democracy contends with corruption, four competing faiths rise as significant cultural forces. This evolving social landscape faces its first major instance of terrorism, with crimes designed to incite labor strife and religious conflict.

Lawman Waxillium Ladrian, accompanied by his witty and unpredictable partner Wayne, must unravel a complex conspiracy before civil strife halts the city's progress. Assisted by the brilliant Marasi, the duo navigates a plot that tests the stability of their fragile utopia. The narrative blends hard magic systems with a focus on social dynamics, political intrigue, and the humorous interplay between the protagonists.
