The Alloy of Law
Set three centuries after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, The Alloy of Law finds the world of Scadrial on the cusp of the industrial revolution. Railroads, electric lights, and steel-framed skyscrapers now define the metropolis of Elendel, while the frontier lands known as the Roughs remain a lawless expanse where old magic still holds sway. The protagonists of the original series have become historical figures or religious icons, their legacy shaping a society that is rapidly modernizing yet still deeply rooted in the metaphysical traditions of Allomancy and Feruchemy.
The narrative follows Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn who can manipulate metals through Allomancy and alter his physical density via Feruchemy. After two decades enforcing order in the Roughs, Wax is forced to return to the city following a family tragedy. He must reluctantly trade his guns for the rigid etiquette of high nobility, only to discover that the elegant, tree-lined streets of Elendel harbor dangers as lethal as the dusty plains. The novel blends the fast-paced action of a western with the intricate political intrigue of a fantasy epic, exploring how ancient powers adapt to a new age of technology and social upheaval.
