  6. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · quote🤣 dying... https://x.com/mattparlmer/status/1483584349706637312
  7. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@sayestheorem @deepfates Lol why are you paying Tinder rather than your provider directly?
  8. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ionlazer @mayfer @Noahpinion @tszzl We're up to $1.8M / acre for farmland under airport flight path 🤷‍♀️
  9. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ionlazer @mayfer @Noahpinion @tszzl Lol, datacenters...... Please, take them, they're swallowing all available land in my home town.
  10. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ionlazer @mayfer @Noahpinion @tszzl I think the history of US foreign interference has been net negative, so I'm leery of any big plans to change conditions in other countries... Meanwhile I want US quality of life to be as good as possible... If this creates a pull from other countries to here, that's fine imo.
  11. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@abettertake I'm really not convinced most women would choose to go through the rigors of pregnancy if they had a good alternative- I certainly wouldn't!
  12. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ionlazer @mayfer @Noahpinion @tszzl Let people make their own decisions about where to live- if they believe their life is better in the US, why should we tell them they're wrong?
  13. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@mayfer @ionlazer @Noahpinion @tszzl Better they use their brain in community conducive to their productivity than waste their potential in adverse situation... Immigrants send remittances, share knowledge, sometimes move back with their acquired skills and resources.
  14. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@protoneutype Guy? More like gal... Seriously useful feature would be to auto hide a profile when unread messages pile up too high
  15. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · repostRT @VitalikButerin: @DeepCipher @shl @elonmusk Disparities in economic success between men and women are far larger once marriage+children…

  19. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@arpitrage @Noahpinion Idk why we're not stealing their best & brightest for TeamUSA.... immigration should be cheap and easy for most talented, no waiting in lines and paying fees
  20. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@sreekotay @MeiselZachary @MegaBasedChad Once we've built our own LARP sky gods, the secondhand fanfics become far less compelling 🙃
  21. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@sreekotay @MeiselZachary @MegaBasedChad Otoh well on our way to a kratocracy- Havana Syndrome clearly the result of bug in beta laser police drone system...
  22. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ThatsMauvelous Lol I'm like 90% team dopamine
  23. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@ThatsMauvelous Ah but the most engaging Tweets are the atomic takes 🔥🔥🔥 dopamine vs oxytocin
  24. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@vgr Service does throw together units from varied backgrounds, they learn tolerance and build team cohesion through shared suffering and humor and effort rather than identity. Otoh they get cynical about the normal dysfunction of large bureaucracies / govt / politicians.
  25. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@vgr From military family, I think US vets learn a certain form of teamwork- "everyone pull their weight" "fall in line, any decision is better than chaos, even tho some will be boneheaded" and most of all "leave no man behind"... How it translates politically varies
  26. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@money_illusion @tszzl I am kinda hoping to meet different Types of Guy when I finish construction of my West Virginia house.... Totally fantasize about meeting a farrier or welder or smth
  27. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@money_illusion @tszzl Seriously, like guys get all insecure and "you're just using me for my body!"
  28. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@money_illusion @tszzl Lol, you'd think.... But when I've actually dated ppl they're kinda like "um, what's my role here if you're doing it all?"
  29. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@money_illusion @tszzl Lol, what's worse is that as a woman I'm a programmer who knows how to use a framing hammer.... who tf do I match with?
  30. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary I mean emotionally I'm in complete agreement with you, but looked at the data and concluded that we should focus on the plastics not the papers- so, like, the shampoo bottle rather than the box it's shipped in
  31. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@tszzl (and I blame the evil UX of their dating apps for making it harder to find a compatible committed partner before fertility window closes)
  32. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@tszzl Well, when "tech" is being designed by and for 20-something single guys in SF, reproductive tech isn't high on the priority list...
  33. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary Otoh I do really want reusable takeout containers to become a thing, because they're far worse for the environment and paper doesn't really work well for packing wet foods
  34. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary It is something I wondered about and did some research and concluded Amazon is making logical eco-friendly choices
  35. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary One issue has been if you mix plastics into cardboard, it's less recyclable... I think Amazon has changed their packing tape to be paper-based so this is less of an issue
  36. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary I think paper / cardboard is relatively best recyclable material, and far better for environment if it does end up in a landfill. Wood is mostly pine from tree farms- when you cut lumber you get leftover wood chips & shavings which they use for pulp, so really not terrible.
  37. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary I think the argument is that Amazon cardboard is not *that* bad for the environment... Mostly recycled and if composted breaks down quickly without toxins, new material is renewable from tree farms which fix carbon, not like mining or plastics.
  38. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@chribreuer @eurydicelives Hollywood turns up the attractiveness dial for all characters though? Living in DC I'm quite sure the average FBI agent isn't as hot as David Boreanaz 😏 https://t.co/042Vltb6U2
  39. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@quantumVerd @tszzl @nickcammarata *Starlink internet
  40. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@deepfates And with a homestead to build, you have no end of expenses in your future 😏 💕
  41. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@deepfates Lol I am surprised they didn't auto assign cabins with a short survey plus Twitter relationship analysis
  42. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · repostRT @bagder: I'm annotating "good moments in time" during curl (source) development for a pending gource video caption. What great points am…

  44. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@joodaloop Imo they make good arguments that calorie math doesn't explain obesity and that alternative explanation is something metabolic / environmental.
  45. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MegaBasedChad 🤔 I have

  48. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@eurydicelives Wait what? Trump said that he alone could fix it...
  49. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MNateShyamalan That surveillance + AI analysis + social credit score + armed police drones is basically humans building a replacement for God because he's been slacking off wrt raining punishment down on sinners.
  50. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@altachron @reconfigurthing Here's the ref, I just thought it was interesting, but some ppl were pissed that gut overrode cost models https://www.bisnow.com/national/news/office/amazon-hq2-bezos-gut-decision-overruled-philly-chicago-raleigh-108894
  51. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@altachron @reconfigurthing Lol, isn't this how Amazon ended up in Arlington? Bezos went with his gut
  52. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@MeiselZachary When chaos is causing too much lose-lose waste and people are feeling unsafe in a low trust community? Need alt method of coordination to avoid people following a strongman.
  53. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · postUgh I need a roommate, or a boytoy, or a vegan neighbor to share meals... Cooking + cleaning up is too much effort for one, esp when I'm picky about leftovers (though my peanut curry will be a yummy lunch tomm).
  54. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@deepfates Ooooooo!!! Thrilling!!! Start of an adventure 💕

  59. Jan 18, 2022Twitter · reply@herdonius @Edgar_DOP @tszzl Lol, noncommittal is the worst! 😜 I'm hoping for enthusiastic embellishment, or else specific pushback / alternatives (which yeah is impossible when my original tweet didn't give an example)
  60. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@Edgar_DOP @tszzl reminiscent of my expression when I've shared some speculative ideas and am waiting to see if my date has anything to add to the conversation.

  62. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@tszzl Lol, I've been on so many first, second, third dates with this Type of Guy... and yet, lack of imagination dooms any possible relationship. https://t.co/8tfUPAaMHJ
  63. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · quoteMy dictionary as well (aka why it's a good thing I have a PM padding my dev estimates) https://x.com/wholemars/status/1483298784083800068

  65. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@eurydicelives Totally different imo- I'm an introvert but also max out Openness on big 5 quizzes.
  66. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@thesravaka I get called both lazy and too intense- I'm not good at routine, but when there's a real problem to solve I have more focused energy than anyone. Bipolar-style neurodiversity I guess.
  67. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@OneEyedAlpaca Normal traffic circles, no. Circles mixed with traffic lights and underpasses, yes. https://ggwash.org/view/43619/this-is-a-strange-and-dangerous-traffic-circle-check-out-ddots-ideas-for-making-it-safer

  69. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@space_colonist Yeah can't say it is that appealing personally, but then I like my creature comforts... But I think it's an unsolved challenge that's more accessible than Mars rn
  70. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@space_colonist Whatever happened to seasteading? Kelp farming is interesting tech as we flood coastal land... https://t.co/oGksl2XO3X

  73. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@eurydicelives I've been compared to Irene Adler in Elementary, Dr Brennan in Bones, and Danielle in Ever After- more about character vibes than perfect physical match... And told my body type is a lot like Lindsey Vonn https://t.co/jw2XVOLK75
  74. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@GovernorVA @GlennYoungkin Environmental protection isn't just about natural beauty, it's also about human health- we need clean drinking water without traces of pesticides and plastics, clean air to breathe that doesn't trigger asthma, freedom to swim and fish in our rivers without risking disease.
  75. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@_holyweather There's spicy as in scoville scale and there's spicy as in generous use of masala... I love spciy foods with a lot of taste not ones that are pure burning heat.

  77. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@deepfates Find something pretty / interesting enough that you'd rather fall asleep thinking about it than continuing the infinite scroll
  78. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@tszzl @growing_daniel I was gonna guess one level above homeless, where you're living with roommates and cousins and helping friends pay for a car repair and getting rides with them in return...

  81. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@ionlazer @VividVoid_ Sounds about right... Slack plugin that auto-arranges meetings with (only) the people who actually need to interact?

  88. Jan 17, 2022Twitter · reply@altachron "my name is growing all the time, and I've lived a very long, long time; so my name is like a story. Real names tell you the story of things they belong to in my language, in the Old Entish as you might say." -- treebeard
  89. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · repostRT @AlecStapp: 78% of Americans support encouraging highly skilled people to immigrate and work in the US Even among just the people who s…
  90. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@RokoMijic @NoahCarl90 @sama But SF is only 6% African-American- this is not a case of a race grabbing power for themselves. Imo it's about poverty, which is correlated with race because up to the 60s segregation really blocked African-Americans from accumulating wealth or social capital.
  91. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@RokoMijic @NoahCarl90 @sama Very artificial social situation when you force a group of strangers into cramped idleness surrounded by guards and fences; I wouldn't be too eager to draw conclusions from those circumstances vs from my own life experience in a happily diverse neighborhood.
  92. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@RokoMijic @NoahCarl90 @sama The SF shoplifting situation is absurd... but it's about preferring their neighbors' welfare over faceless corporate profits. Shortsighted stupidity because the corporations will just close shops if people aren't paying for goods, but where's the race war?
  93. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@RokoMijic @NoahCarl90 @sama Even if we had a shortage of resources and people needed to band together, I doubt that race would be how we'd sort ourselves. We'd probably group up with immediate neighbors, coworkers, close friends, people we know through community activities... which would be mixed groups
  94. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@RokoMijic @NoahCarl90 @sama I don't see that happening- we had an immigrant-owned bar in the neighborhood which was attracting a violent crowd... Had a shootout in the parking lot and every neighbor of any race was calling for them to be shut down, which they were, and we're all happier for it.
  95. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@HankWaggy ARLnow poll at least
  96. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@Timlagor @robinhanson I will add that supply constraints are not evenly distributed- suddenly constrained inputs like semiconductors, shipping, and labor are allocated to their most valuable uses and lower margin clients are feeling the pinch, will have to adjust.
  97. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · quoteSuch a good article- biophilic cities need to deliver high quality liveable public space, not just put greenery on every surface (although more nature is an important element). https://x.com/Noahpinion/status/1482817992073224194
  98. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@meekaale @QiaochuYuan 😅 when my life is going as you describe, it's considered a symptom of my bipolar
  99. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@Timlagor @robinhanson We're moving record high amounts through the ports, consumers are buying more goods than ever... So only in the sense that it takes time to scale up supply chains to meet increased demand, and suppliers are hesitant because they've been told current conditions are "transitory"
  100. Jan 16, 2022Twitter · reply@reconfigurthing https://t.co/jvjR1Tv6lu
