weirdly my takeaway from Existential Kink seems to be dampened desire to rescue anyone from their circumstances, like i don't need to be their rescuer if i'm actually undermining their enjoyment of their suffering
the book annoys me because i find the vibes repellent ("juicy" sexual pleasure? 🤢 self help book promising wealth and love? 🤢) but also think the theory is basically sound
maybe it's also the lesson from a year full of roleplaying of all kinds- in tonight's finale i killed the main npc and another player's character who'd gone bad and the player clearly wanted a dramatic end, but me being a hero or winning the dice rolls was kinda incidental vs…
ig all this to say that i've been letting go of my compulsion to play the role of Rescuer when it doesn't feel likely to come to a satisfying ending
i do kinda wonder what's next... what motivates people who don't feel obligated into action?
