Dragonflight

In the opening volume of the Dragonrider series, Lessa, a young woman disguised as a kitchen servant to survive on the planet Pern, is bonded to a queen dragon. This connection grants her the status of a Weyrwoman and reveals her true lineage, positioning her to reclaim her family's stolen lands. As the planet faces the periodic threat of Thread—a destructive substance that falls from the sky—Lessa must master the art of dragon riding to protect her world. The narrative blends high-fantasy elements with science fiction concepts, exploring themes of identity, duty, and the symbiotic relationship between humans and dragons.
