The White Dragon

Set on the colony world of Pern, this novel follows Jaxom, a young lord destined to rule a Hold, who unexpectedly bonds with a runt white dragon named Ruth. While the other dragon riders prepare to combat the periodic fall of deadly Thread, Jaxom and Ruth are isolated from the main dragon community due to their unique status and the dragon's perceived frailty. The narrative explores the telepathic bond between human and dragon, focusing on their shared growth, the challenges of their unconventional partnership, and the political tensions arising from Jaxom's dual identity as both a noble heir and a dragon rider.
