Dragondrums

Piemur, a young boy with a distinctive voice, is recruited by Masterharper Robinton to join the Harper's Hall on the island of Pern. As his voice changes, he is trained in the political and musical duties of the harpers, who serve as the island's historians, diplomats, and keepers of the law. The narrative follows his transition from a curious child to a young man navigating the complex social structures of Pern, where he encounters the dangers of the Weyr and the political machinations of the Holders.
