The Steerswoman

In a world that appears medieval but is underpinned by hidden technological systems, the steerswomen are a guild of investigators bound by a strict social contract: they must answer any question truthfully, and in return, they are entitled to ask questions that others must answer honestly. Rowan, a young steerswoman, uses this unique position to gather knowledge about the world, specifically focusing on mysterious, inexplicable objects that defy the era's apparent lack of magic. As her inquiries deepen, she uncovers that these objects are actually advanced technology, and that the steerswomen's tradition has inadvertently shielded them from the truth about magic, which is forbidden to them. The narrative follows Rowan as her discoveries become dangerous, forcing her to flee or fight for her life to protect the secrets she has uncovered.
